How a session cycle runs

Group sessions run in cycles of five stages, mirroring the video curriculum: orientation, measuring, first joinery project, finishing, and an independent build. Each stage includes two or three lesson videos to watch on your own time, followed by a scheduled live session.

Live sessions are used for demonstrations that are easier to show than describe, and for reviewing photos of what participants have built so far. Nobody is asked to build live on camera. There's enough pressure in trying to keep a cut square without an audience.

What each cycle covers

Stage by stage

Orientation Session

A live walkthrough of tool setup, PPE, and workspace organization. Good for anyone still deciding what tools to buy first.

Measuring Check-In

Participants share marked-up boards for feedback before any cutting happens, catching measurement habits early.

Joinery Build Review

A look at completed first-project joints, with notes on gaps, squareness, and how to fix common gluing mistakes.

Finishing Demonstration

Live demonstration of sanding grits and finish application, including how drying time changes with humidity and temperature.

Good to know

What group sessions are, and aren't

Sessions are educational and hands-on in spirit, but they take place remotely with participants working in their own space. There is no professional carpentry certification issued at the end of a cycle, and no licensing body is involved. This program is designed purely to build practical, personal woodworking skill.

Attendance is flexible. Life happens, boards warp, and sometimes a session gets missed. Recorded replays cover most of what a live session offers if you can't make the scheduled time.
